On May 8th, 2006 I started this journey of blogging and educating.
It has been a long, trying year. Hook's illness, my career struggles, and family issues.
I have let this blog kind of sit for a while. I've been trying to find direction. Looking back, reading my posts of the past year, I realized I have missed it.
I was doing a great thing here and I somehow lost sight of that.
This will be a new beginning, I'm back. It's something I need to do.
To all of my blog buddies I thank you for the past year of fun, friendship, and giving me a chance to belong to such a great community.
Please share the video I created.

How long have I been here?
The walls are all white, there is just a bed.
Why is there a warm, cozy place in my head?
Pictures surround me, a lifetime of joys.
Those people look familiar, who are those boys?
A nurse comes in directs me here or there.
They all look alike and they don't seem to care.
How long have I been here? Where is my wife?
I can only remember scattered bits and pieces of my life.
Could someone take the time, a moment or two?
I'm confused, worried, scared and not sure what to do.
How long have I been here, I'm supposed to go home.

A bouquet of roses for one who cares for very special people, Nursey. I am a chaplain in a retirement home and also a retired nurse; my hat is off to anyone like you who is faithful in this calling; thank you for reminding us of the need for sensitivity. I always tell myself when working with these people - be loving and tender - you never where you will be at that age if you make it. I thought of that again as I watched the video today, June
That video is really, really good. It encapsulates all that can be said about the disease with an overwhelming sense of emotion.
The picture towards the end with the word 'dementia' at the bottom scares the living hell out of me as I have many family members with the disease or that have died from it.
I hope you are well and it is good to know that you are staying on here and continuing to post.
My great grandmother is in the beginning stage of Alzheimers. It takes such a large toll on my grandmother. She has to care for her and take her out of the home almost everyday, because my great grandmother thinks she is living in a prison. My great grandmother is completely oblivious to the deterioration of my grandmother. It is very sad to see, and we all try to help. Its sad to think that so many others go through this exact same thing.
